The Book Sale

Our specialist auctions of Books, Maps & Ephemera incorporate a broad range of collecting areas, from modern first editions to antiquarian works, private press, art & architecture and children’s & illustrated, as well as East Anglian interest, travel & topography, sporting & natural History amongst many other genres. Autographed letters, ephemera, postcards, maps and Atlases are all also regularly included in sales and catered for.

Great care is taken in providing detailed bibliographic catalogue information, and showcasing lots with comprehensive illustrated online catalogues that exude passion and expertise in the work. We strive to respond quickly and fully to requests for further images, information and condition reports about items in upcoming auctions, and relish interaction with clients and collectors whether looking to buy or sell. The result is interesting sales that encompass private collections, entire libraries and single lots from vendors across the UK, establishing a growing reputation both at home and internationally.

Notable recent highlights include a first edition four volume set of Jane Austen’s ‘Northanger Abbey & Persuasion’, 1819, realising a hammer price of £9,500, as well as a collection of Gothic Horror including Polidori’s ‘The Vampyre; A Tale’ (£3,800), and Bram Stoker’s ‘Famous Impostors’ signed and inscribed to his wife (£2,800), amongst many others.

Antiquarian and other books are also sold in weekly Antiques & Interiors sales.
