General Cataloguer and Saleroom Assistant/Valuer
Diss Auction Rooms is one of the East of England’s leading auctioneers; certainly, one of the biggest and busiest. We have 22 specialist departments and sell over 2,000 lots every week, divided between three sale days each week for 51 weeks of the year, with every lot featuring on our web site and internet bidding platforms.
An exciting full-time opportunity has now arisen for an enthusiastic General Cataloguer and Valuer to join our established team.
The successful candidate will work across the site: managing private Estate consignments, valuing and preparing lots for sale, and supporting the general auction process. There is a significant need to be self-motivated, to take initiative and to be able to work accurately and efficiently to meet strict deadlines.
Applicants need to have had previous experience of similar work, possess a broad working knowledge of antique, vintage, and modern artefacts, backed by a confident knowledge of market influences and relative values. The role requires a willingness to be hands-on as part of our existing hardworking team, and duties will also include some manual lifting, photography, computer inputting, preparation of accurate condition reports, and hosting of public viewings.
To apply in confidence, or for an informal discussion,
please call Matthew Brand, Auction Rooms Manager, on 01379 650306 from Monday 16 August, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Closing date for final application Friday 27th August.
